A Contrail is a condensation trail that a jet aircraft leaves behind as it flys high in the air. These "straight clouds" form when low temperaturs found at altitude mixes with low vapor pressure of the enviornmental air. Turbulance from the jet exhaust mixes these two factors and creates this vapor trail known as a Contrail. It is not disimilar to when you exhale and see your breath.
